MagLab-led FilmEU+ mobility project secures funding to advance Interconnected Journalism

MagLab in collaboration with Baltic Film, Media and Arts School of Tallinn University (TLU BFM) in Estonia and Ireland's Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), has been awarded support through the FilmEU+ Collegium staff mobility scheme. The project, titled “Interconnected Journalism: reconnecting people to and through the media,” successfully secured funding to host the mobility programme, with Lusófona University acting as the official host institution.

MagLab coordinators lead conference‑organising workshops at Lusófona University

MagLab’s scientific coordinator Carla Cardoso and assistant scientific coordinator Ana Figueiras participated in the VII Pedagogical Training Days at Ensino Lusófona, delivering two sessions on “How to Organise an International Conference?” on July 8, 2025. Held as part of a week-long professional development programme for professors and researchers (July 7–11), the workshops equipped attendees with practical tools and methodologies for planning and executing successful international academic events.

Jeremy Leslie confirmed as keynote speaker at FoM 2025

MagLab is pleased to announce that Jeremy Leslie will be one of the keynote speakers at the 2nd edition of the Future of Magazine (FoM) conference. The international event is organized by CICANT and will take place from 29 to 31 October 2025 at Lusófona University in Lisbon, Portugal.

New book traces cultural impact of UK Women’s Magazines (1975–1992)

Next August Routledge will publish Feminism, UK Women’s Magazines and the Women who Created Them, 1975–1992: Glossy Cover or Cultural Shift? by Dr. Sharon Maxwell Magnus, a study of how three magazines: Spare Rib, Cosmopolitan and Woman’s Own, mediated debates over reproductive rights, workplace equality, and sexual violence in Britain from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s.
