Sharon Maxwell Magnus

Dr. Sharon Maxwell Magnus is a Principal Lecturer in Mass Media for the University of Hertfordshire and Head of Outreach for the School of Creative Arts. I was previously an award-winning journalist and editor, working for magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Prima as well as writing longform features for national newspapers such as The Times, online and in print. My latest book is out in July. Feminism, UK Women’s Magazines and the Women Who Created Them 1975-1992, Glossy Cover or Cultural Shift? examines how women’s magazines represented, disseminated, and remodelled aspects of feminism. It focuses especially on attitudes toward the workplace, sex, party politics, and intimate violence. I have also contributed to other books and journals, including the Handbook of Magazine Studies.
